Paolo Sorrentino, the acclaimed Italian director, at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in 2022. Despite not presenting any films in competition, his involvement in various events and initiatives has made him a significant figure of the festival.
Sorrentino held the prestigious role of President of the Jury for the Venice Classics section, dedicated to restored classics and rediscovered gems of the history of cinema. He carefully evaluated the films together with his fellow jurors and played a fundamental role in selecting the winners of this section.
Sorrentino, a passionate cinephile, took the stage for the presentation of the restored version of Federico Fellini's masterpiece "La Dolce Vita". He introduced the film, sharing his admiration for Fellini's work and highlighting the importance of film restoration in preserving cinematic heritage.
He met with aspiring filmmakers and film enthusiasts by conducting a masterclass and participating in a dialogue with the students. He shared his insights on filmmaking, creative processes and the art of storytelling, inspiring the next generation of filmmakers.
